The Education Reform Act 1988 requires that all schools have a daily act of Collective Worship, either the whole school together or worship in separate school groups. For the majority of occasions during each school term the worship has to be “wholly or mainly of a broadly Christian character” and must reflect the broad traditions of Christian belief. In addition, attention should be paid to the ages and aptitudes and family background of pupils in school. Please refer to our Collective Worship policy for further details.
Aims:
- to provide an opportunity for the children to engage in an act of worship;
- to enable children to consider spiritual and moral issues;
- to enable children to explore their own beliefs;
- to encourage participation and response;
- to develop in children a sense of community spirit;
- to promote a common ethos with shared values and to reinforce positive attitudes.
If they wish, parents/carers may withdraw their children from collective worship or religious education. If there are any concerns, we encourage you to contact the Head Teacher.
