Kilvrough Update – Day 2

The children slept well, although they were awake bright and early on Tuesday! Breakfast included lots of cereal and toast – Coco Pops were definitely the most popular, with the adults too! Room inspections were carried out, the children have taken their bedroom duties very seriously with lots of vacuuming going on, and early morning entertainment. Then we were off on our first off site activities.

Two groups went climbing and abseiling; their resilience and courage was tested but they all had a great day on the cliffs supporting one another as well as pushing themselves as much as they could. Sam and Alex, the instructors, were really pleased with the children’s achievements.

One group were in the caves in Brecon Beacons, again they showed increasing resilience and leadership as they faced the different challenges, including the infamous ‘Letterbox’. They also learned a lot about the formation of the caves and a little geology from their instructor, Piers.

After dinner, there was a lovely surprise as Mr Clarke popped over to see us and helped with the den building activity – in the dark!

On Wednesday the children are looking forward to caving and climbing; and more vacuuming and tidying of bedrooms! You can all be very proud of your children, it’s a pleasure spending this week with them.
