Nursery
Pupils in the Nursery class are aged 3-4 years old. At Long Furlong we have a Nursery class led by a qualified teacher, and a qualified Early Years Support Worker. Sessions are available from Monday to Friday during school term-time only, 8:45 – 11:45 a.m. As a maintained school we receive funding for Nursery places from the government; our Nursery class is therefore provided at no charge to parents. Children do not have to attend all five sessions every week, but please note that if your child is registered at our Nursery, we will receive the full 15 hours’ universal funding.
If we have spaces, your child can be considered for a place at any point after the term in which they reach the age of 3, as follows:
- If your child’s 3rd birthday is in April, May, June, July or August, they can start at any point from the September after their 3rd birthday
- If your child’s 3rd birthday is in September, October, November or December, they can start at any point from the January after their 3rd birthday
- If your child’s 3rd birthday is in January, February or March, they can start at any point from the April after their 3rd birthday
Nursery admissions are managed by the school and must comply with Oxfordshire County Council’s Nursery Admissions policy, which can be accessed by clicking below.
We hold regular Open Days where you and your child can visit on an informal basis, and take the opportunity to discuss Nursery life with the staff. If you wish to register your child for a place in our Nursery, you can do so by completing this form and returning it to the school office:
Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’d like to find out more.
Main School (Reception to Year 6)
Pupils in the main school are aged 4 – 11 years old. We warmly welcome visits to the school; if you’d like to look round, please contact us via the school office to book an appointment. We’d be happy to show you how we work and answer any questions you might have.
The formal side of the process for admissions to the school from Reception through to Year 6 is managed by the Local Authority’s Admissions team. For more information, please get in touch with us or visit the Oxfordshire County Council website
Appeals for school places
You may appeal for a place at the school you want if you have not been offered a place; appeals are managed by the Local Authority’s Admissions team. For more information, please visit the Oxfordshire County Council website.
Secondary Transfer
Children at Long Furlong transfer to a wide range of secondary schools in both the public and private sectors; links to their websites are under the “Links” tab at the top of this page. The County Council oversees admissions to the state secondary schools. You will receive information and invitations to visit local secondary schools in the autumn of the year before your child is due to transfer. For more information please visit the Oxfordshire County Council website
Catchment area
Our catchment area is shown below. Living outside the catchment area doesn’t necessarily mean your child won’t be offered a place in the school – please contact us to check availability of places.
