Joining Long Furlong

Children will join Reception the September after their fourth birthday. Reception admissions are made through Oxfordshire County Council. Before the application deadline we host several open events so you can come and visit the school. You are also very welcome to contact the school office to arrange a school tour. During the Summer term before your child is due to start, we hold different transition events, including ‘stay and play sessions’, a Garden Party where you can meet our current class and their families, and a whole morning (including lunch) spent in the classroom with Reception staff.

Reception class

Long Furlong is a one-form entry Primary school. Reception class is limited to a class size of 30 children. We have a well-resourced classroom and outside area, which is solely for our use. We also have a courtyard area and a Forest School site which we use weekly. Outside learning forms an important part of our curriculum, the garden is open during the day for children to use as they wish (‘free flow’) and we go to Forest School every Wednesday.
