Our Year 6 pupils enjoyed a visit to Abingdon Community Hospital last Thursday 23rd January 2020 as part as the Injury Minimization Programme for Schools (IMPS).
During the visit the children had the opportunity to tour the Emergency Department and minor injury unit, to familiarise themselves with the hospital and equipment used. They watched an inter-active DVD, concentrating on injury prevention and demonstrating basic first aid procedures. They were also taught emergency life skills including basic life support, how to use an automated external defibrillator, how to put someone into the recovery position and the management of choking.
Take a look at some photos from the trip and a video of some pupils demonstrating the recover position when back in school!
